Receive a certified copy of your bank charter

The Division of Banking, Bureau of Banks, Trust Companies and Savings Institutions maintains the charters and other documents of all Illinois banks, some dating back nearly two centuries. Upon your request for a certified copy of an original charter and/or amendment documents, the Bureau of Banks, Trust Companies and Savings Institutions will provide you with a true and accurate copy of the charter document or amendment documents bound in a portfolio.

If you would like to receive a certified copy of a charter or if you need to verify a corporate entity and/or past amendments to a charter, then please identify the name and address of the institution you are interested in (you may view a list of our regulated entities) and send a $100 dollar check payable to the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and mail these items to either the:

Chicago Office 
(for banks in Cook, Du Page, Grundy, Kankakee, Lake, McHenry and Will counties):
