The Illinois Division of Insurance (DOI) has initiated the implementation of new legislation which affects the way medical liability insurance is regulated in Illinois. The Illinois General Assembly passed the legislation last year and Governor Blagojevich signed PA 94-0677 (Act) into law on August 25, 2005. The Act adds a new subsection (C-5) to Section 1204 of the Illinois Insurance Code [215 ILCS 5/1204]. The Act requires specific actuarial information to be filed with the DOI. The DOI has begun collecting the data required to implement Section 1204(C-5).
