Every day we're reading and hearing more about the Year 2000 "millennium bug". This computer calendar change may effect your company in significant ways. Unlike other computer conversion projects faced by your organization, where implementation dates could be moved forward when the project was not completed as scheduled, this "turn of the century" will arrive on January 1, 2000 ...no matter what is done or not done to prepare for its arrival.

As the Acting Director, it is part of my responsibility to make sure that your company is taking appropriate action to bring your operations into a Year 2000 compliant status. Please complete the attached questionnaire (in PDF format) and return it to my attention by June 1, 1998. You should not feel limited by the answer spaces provided on the questionnaire. If you need additional space for your response please use it and provide a complete answer. Your response will be kept confidential so don't be reluctant to respond.

If your company is already working towards a solution to this challenging problem, congratulations! Your efforts will certainly contribute to the continued success of your organization. If you are not yet working on this project or if you haven't made it a high priority task, I encourage you to do so right away. In either case, I would further advise you and the resources that you have assigned to the project to consider the other areas of your operation that may be affected, even remotely, and to especially think about how your company may be impacted by the lack of preparedness on the part of organizations that interact with yours.
