SPRINGFIELD, IL -- Recent blizzards on the east coast have prompted Illinois Insurance Director Mark Boozell to grant a ten day extension for temporary insurance producer licenses scheduled to expire between January 8 and January 19, 1996. The Department's independent test administrator, Assessment Systems, Inc. of Philadelphia, PA, was forced to close its offices for two days, creating an enormous backlog in scheduling licensing examinations for Illinois insurance producers.
"For the next few days, Illinois applicants may have a difficult time getting through on ASI's reservation telephones to schedule an examination for a permanent license," Boozell said. "The extension will allow persons with a temporary license to continue to solicit and receive commissions for an additional ten days beyond the expiration date on their temporary license."
Applicants are also reminded that they can use the FAX reservation form in their Candidate Handbook and receive confirmation of their test date within 24 hours of ASI's receipt.
Boozell said that if snow storms continue to cause problems for ASI, the Department will consider another extension.
