Division Overview

The Division of Professional Regulation is divided into two operating divisions with specific duties and responsibilities. For more detailed information click on a specific item.

LICENSING AND TESTING DIVISION

The process of becoming licensed in Illinois is designed to ensure all professionals meet specific requirements to practice their chosen fields. Professionals seeking to work in Illinois must first receive, and properly complete, an application for licensure. Applications differ depending on the profession and the method of applying, including examination, endorsement from another state or acceptance of an examination taken in another state. Specific licensure requirements are contained in the appropriate regulatory statute and administrative rules for that profession. Copies of the regulatory statutes may be downloaded from our Web site by clicking on the specific profession listed under "Profession Selection", or may be obtained by contacting the Technical Assistance Unit at 217-782-8556.
