| | The Marriage and Family Therapy Licensing Act was signed into law in 1991. Marriage and family |
| | therapy refers to the evaluation and treatment of mental and emotional problems within the context of |
| | human relationships. The Board is appointed by the Secretary and is made up of five licensed |
| | practitioners and two public members. The Board is charged with providing expert knowledge and |
| | advice on disciplinary matters and professional performance and conduct. |
