Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
Employment Opportunities Page

The mission of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) is to protect and promote the lives of Illinois consumers. We license over one million professionals in nearly 100 industries, including architects, banks, barbers, boxing, currency exchanges, funeral directors, mixed martial arts, nurses, payday loans, physicians, veterinarians, and more. Click here to review the complete listing of the professions we regulate.

IDFPR employs over 450 people in two Illinois locations – Cook and Sangamon Counties.  IDFPR is proud of the efforts put forth in the recruitment and retention of its diverse workforce.  Over 50% of our staff is female; 30% are minorities; and 12% are disabled.

A listing of the frequently asked questions on filling out applications with the Department of Central Management Services (CMS); and receiving a grade from CMS can be found at the Work 4 Illinois website. All applicants not currently employed by the State of Illinois must receive a grade from CMS.

All job postings for IDFPR can be found on CMS’s website "Job Seekers" page.   If IDFPR is not listed on CMS’ job site, there are no open positions currently available at our agency.

Although positions are not always available at IDFPR, after applicants receive their grade(s) from CMS, applications for employment with IDFPR are accepted on a continuing basis in such areas as investigations, prosecutions, financial examinations, and maintenance.  Click here for a general description of commonly filled titles.  Specific job postings may contain additional requirements.

As an employee of IDFPR you will have access to many great health benefits, an overview of which can be found at the CMS "Employee Services" website.
