The new Illinois Nurse Practice Act was signed into law by the Governor on October 5, 2007. As a result, Rules must be drafted and adopted for the administration of the Act. Subsequent to the adoption of the Rules, the Division will implement the continuing education requirement. At that time, relevant information will be posted on our web site.
Additionally, licensees (those in active status at the time) will receive the appropriate notification. Continuing education will not be required for the May 31, 2008 RN renewal, nor the January 31, 2009 LPN renewal. Additionally, once the Rules are in place; applications for CE sponsor approval will be made available for downloading on our website.
