Illinois Regulators Suspend License of
Berwyn Physician

CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation suspended the physician and surgeon license of Ricardo Arze, M.D.   Daniel E. Bluthardt, Director of the Division of Professional Regulation signed the summary suspension order on Tuesday afternoon as a result of a joint investigation between IDFPR and the Berwyn Police Department.  Dr. Arze was arrested yesterday and Berwyn police are asking other potential victims to come forward.  IDFPR issued its summary suspension because it believes the health and safety of the public may be in danger by the continued practice of this licensee. 

The complaint filed by the Department alleges that four patients complained of inappropriate conduct during office visits to Dr. Arze.  In each of these instances the patients filed complaints with the Berwyn Police Department about the incidents. IDFPR worked closely with the police department during the investigation of this matter.

Dr. Arze has the right to a hearing before an administrative law judge and the Medical Disciplinary Board.  A hearing has been scheduled for October 9, 2007, in Chicago.
