Pursuant to Section 72/35 of the Humane Euthanasia in Animal Shelters Act, Certified Euthanasia Technicians are required to have attended a class or seminar, administered by the American Humane Association, the National Animal Control Association, the Illinois Federation of Humane Societies, or the Humane Society of the United States, that teaches techniques or guidelines, or both, for humane animal euthanasia.

This requirement will go into effect for the 2014renewal.

Beginning with the April 30, 2014 renewal, all Certified Euthanasia Technicians must have attended a class or seminar in the 5 years prior to the 2014 renewal.
