<description><![CDATA[ <b>CHICAGO  </b>Earlier today, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) revoked the licenses of 11 health care workers who have been convicted of sex offenses or violent crimes against their patients.  These revocations are required by a new law signed by Governor Quinn last month.  HB 1271 (Public Act 97-0156) provides that the professional license of any health care worker who has been convicted of a sex offense or of a violent crime against their patients is permanently revoked without a hearing and further provides that sex offenders cannot be licensed as health care workers in Illinois.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[ <b>CHICAGO  </b>Certain hair care products, primarily those used by hair care professionals for smoothing and straightening hair may produce formaldehyde even if that compound is not listed as an ingredient in the products, according to a warning issued today by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).   The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) warned that formaldehyde presents a health hazard if workers are exposed. It can irritate the eyes and nose; cause allergic reactions of the skin, eyes and lungs; and is linked to nose and lung cancer.]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<b>CHICAGO - </b>Six months after the Cemetery Oversight Act's on-line database became active, more than 17,900 burials have been electronically recorded in the statewide database, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations (IDFPR) announced today.  IDFPR estimates that nearly 75% of burials in the State are now being entered into the database.  By creating the State's first comprehensive burial records database, families will have a place to turn if they are unable to find the location of a loved one's grave.]]></description>

Medical and Professional Service Corporations have long been required to register with IDFPR, and this law expands that requirement to cover LLCs established by licensed professions, including doctors and dentists.]]></description>
