Illinois Regulators Revoke License of Chicago area Physician
CHICAGO – The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation suspended the Medical and Controlled Substance licenses of Subir Maitra today after learning that the doctor’s attorney filed a motion in federal court that Dr. Maitra’s “present physical condition renders him medically unfit to stand trial.”
Dr. Maitra had been charged with Medicare fraud uncovered during a recent investigation of medical care at Sacred Heart Hospital in Chicago.
Copies of the Complaint, Petition for Temporary Suspension and the exhibits provided at today’s hearing are available below. Dr. Maitra has the right to a hearing before an administrative law judge and the Medical Disciplinary Board. A hearing has been scheduled for September 24, 2013 in Chicago.
