| | Athletic exhibitions became regulated in 1967. Twenty years later this area underwent a name change to |
| | the Professional Boxing and Wrestling Act. In 1996, prohibitions against "Ultimate Fighting" were added to |
| | the Act. In 2002, legislation eliminated the regulation of wrestling. The Professional Boxing Act regulates |
| | professional boxing matches, exhibitions and boxing promoters. The Board is made up of six members, |
| | one of whom is a licensed physician, appointed by the Secretary. The Board is charged with providing |
| | expert knowledge and advice on disciplinary matters and professional performance and conduct. |
