State Professional Boxing Board

Athletic exhibitions became regulated in 1967. Twenty years later this area underwent a name change to

the Professional Boxing and Wrestling Act. In 1996, prohibitions against "Ultimate Fighting" were added to

the Act. In 2002, legislation eliminated the regulation of wrestling. The Professional Boxing Act regulates

professional boxing matches, exhibitions and boxing promoters. The Board is made up of six members,

one of whom is a licensed physician, appointed by the Secretary. The Board is charged with providing

expert knowledge and advice on disciplinary matters and professional performance and conduct.
