| | Board of Licensing for Perfusionists |
| | The Perfusionist Practice Act became effective January 1, 2000. A perfusionist is one who operates |
| | the extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is necessary to support |
| | or replace a person's cardiopulmonary, circulatory or respiratory function. The Board of Licensing of |
| | Perfusionists is comprised of five persons appointed by the Secretary consisting of two perfusionists, |
| | one cardiothoracic surgeon, one licensed registered professional nurse certified by the association of |
| | Operating Room Nurses and one public member. The Board advises the Secretary in matters of |
| | qualifications and professional performance and conduct. |
