| | Board of Licensing for Perfusionists |
| | The Perfusionist Practice Act became effective January 1, 2000. A perfusionist is one who |
| | operates the extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation where it is |
| | necessary to support or replace a person's cardiopulmonary, circulatory or respiratory |
| | function. The Board of Licensing of Perfusionists is comprised of five persons appointed by |
| | the Secretary consisting of two perfusionists, one cardiothoracic surgeon, one licensed |
| | registered professional nurse certified by the association of Operating Room Nurses and one |
| | public member. The Board advises the Secretary in matters of qualifications and |
| | professional performance and conduct. |
