Department Suspends License of Alan Olefsky, MD

CHICAGO, IL–The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation suspended the license of Chicago-based physician Alan Olefsky, M.D.  In the order signed by Daniel E. Bluthardt, Acting Director of the Division of Professional Regulation, Dr. Olefsky was found to have repeatedly issued false prescriptions for controlled substances, under other names and for his personal use.  Further, Dr. Olefsky was arrested for Driving under the Influence last year and continues to drive with a suspended license.

Dr. Olefsky’s licenses to practice medicine and prescribe controlled substances are immediately suspended.  A hearing on this matter has been scheduled for March 1, 2005 before the Administrative Law Judge at the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Medical Disciplinary Board of the State of Illinois.
