Department Suspends License of Chicago-area M.D.

CHICAGO , IL –The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation today temporarily suspended, pending a hearing, the license of Christ Koulis, M.D. In the order signed by Daniel E. Bluthardt, Acting Director of the Division of Professional Regulation, Koulis' license was suspended after the Department verified that Dr. Koulis violated the terms of his probation by treating patients without another physician present in the office. Dr. Koulis also pled guilty to a Class D felony in Kentucky and further, failed to report this guilty plea to the department. Since his license was put on probation in 2003, Dr. Koulis has been working in a private practice in Arlington Heights.

The Department, having learned of these violations from citizen and patient complaints, undertook a complete investigation into the facts of the case. By the action taken today, Koulis' license is immediately suspended. A hearing on this matter has been scheduled before the Administrative Law Judge at the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Medical Disciplinary Board of the State of Illinois on August 31, 2005.
